Request a sandbox
Sandbox is a separate ChainIT environment. Use it to try Admin Portal flows, APIs, and Developer Portal work without touching live production data.
You request it from production Admin. After ChainIT approves, switch ChainIT ID to sandbox, create a new sandbox ChainIT ID, and sign in to sandbox Admin. Your production login will not open that console.
Production and sandbox do not share accounts. A session that works on production Admin will not sign you in to sandbox Admin. On the ChainIT ID Login or Sign up screen, press and hold the button to switch to sandbox — hold again to return to production — then create a new ChainIT ID. Do not reuse your production account.

Your journey at a glance
Follow these five steps in order. The rest of this page walks each one.
| Where | What you do | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| Production Admin | Open Administration → Request Sandbox and click Initialize Sandbox | Status shows Request Submitted |
| Waiting | ChainIT reviews and provisions your sandbox org | Status shows Environment Ready, or you get the approval email |
| Inbox | Open Your sandbox request has been approved and click Continue | You are back in production Admin for that org |
| ChainIT ID switcher | Press and hold Login or Sign up to switch to sandbox (hold again to return to production). Then create a new ChainIT ID | OTP completes in sandbox |
| Sandbox Admin | Open the sandbox Admin QR page and scan with that new ID | Sandbox Admin loads |
Step 1 of 5
Request
In production Admin, open Administration → Request Sandbox and click Initialize Sandbox. You should see Request Submitted and Awaiting approval.

Before you start
Check these first so you do not get stuck on the first screen.
- Your organization already exists in production.
- Your organization is verified. Unverified orgs cannot be approved for sandbox.
- You can sign in to production Admin as an organization admin.
- You can install ChainIT ID on a phone, or open the ChainIT ID sign-in screen in a browser.
- Use the environment switcher on that screen: press and hold Login or Sign up to move between production and sandbox.
If Administration → Request Sandbox is missing, you are either not an org admin, or you are already looking at sandbox Admin. Ask your ChainIT contact if the menu still does not appear.
| You are in | Admin | ChainIT ID switcher |
|---|---|---|
| Production — send the request | admin-react.chainit.online | Default screen. Hold Login or Sign up to go to sandbox. |
| Sandbox — create your account and sign in | sandbox-admin-react.chainit.online | After the hold, you are in sandbox. Hold Login or Sign up again to return to production. |
Install ChainIT ID for iOS or Android
Step 1 — Request sandbox from production Admin
Where: Production Admin
- Sign in to production Admin with your existing production ChainIT ID.
- Open Administration → Request Sandbox.
- Read the short intro. The first time, you should see Initialize a sandbox environment to safely test your integrations.
- Click Initialize Sandbox.
What you should see next
- The stepper moves to Request.
- Title changes to Request Submitted.
- Message: Your request has been received and is under review by our administration team.
- Footer shows Awaiting approval...
Nothing is created in sandbox yet. You are only asking ChainIT to provision an isolated copy of your organization.
If a previous attempt failed, the same page shows Request Failed and a Retry Request button. Use that instead of opening a new ticket.
Step 2 — Wait while ChainIT reviews and builds sandbox
Where: stay on Administration → Request Sandbox in production Admin.
ChainIT reviews the request and builds a new organization in the sandbox environment.
While you wait, the page moves through two states
| Screen title | Meaning | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Request Submitted | Request is queued | Wait. Do not click Initialize again. |
| Provisioning in Progress | Sandbox org is being created | Wait a few minutes. Keep this tab or come back later. |
| Environment Ready | Sandbox org exists | Go to Step 3 and Step 5. |
| Request Failed | Provisioning did not finish | Click Retry Request, or contact support@chainit.com. |
Sandbox is a full environment: a new organization, verification, product lines, and folders. Production data is not copied as live records — you get an isolated org you can test against.
Step 3 — Open the approval email
Where: the email inbox on your organization record.
When provisioning succeeds you receive Your sandbox request has been approved.
- The email names your organization.
- It confirms the sandbox organization is ready.
- Click Continue. That opens production Admin for your org.
- From there, go back to Administration → Request Sandbox.
- You should now see Environment Ready and buttons Go to sandbox / Access Your environment.
If the email never arrives, check spam, then confirm the org email on the organization profile. You can still open sandbox from the Request Sandbox page once status is Environment Ready.
Step 4 — Create a sandbox ChainIT ID
Where: the ChainIT ID Login / Sign up screen (app or browser).
Do not open a sandbox URL. Use the switcher on the same Login / Sign up buttons.
Press and hold Login or Sign up for a few seconds. Production redirects to sandbox. Sandbox redirects back to production. A short tap still signs in or signs up in the environment you are already in.
Production accounts do not work in sandbox. Create a new ChainIT ID after you switch.
- Open ChainIT ID on the Login / Sign up screen.
- Press and hold Login or Sign up until you see the switch toast.
- Confirm you landed in sandbox.
- Tap Sign up (do not hold this time).
- Enter a phone number you can receive SMS on and complete the OTP.
- Finish any checkout or promo step in sandbox.
- Keep this session. You will scan a QR with it in the next step.
Your production ChainIT ID will not sign you in to sandbox. After you switch, register as a new user. Session and org membership do not carry over.
Step 5 — Sign in to sandbox Admin
Where: sandbox-admin-react.chainit.online
- From production Request Sandbox, click Go to sandbox or Access Your environment.
Or open sandbox Admin directly. - On the sandbox Admin sign-in page, leave the QR code on screen.
- On your phone, open the new sandbox ChainIT ID (use the switcher if you are still on production).
- Scan the QR and approve the session.
- You are in when sandbox Admin loads for your sandbox organization.
That is the finish line for this guide. You can now use sandbox Admin, invite teammates, and continue to the Developer Portal.
Invite a teammate (optional)
After you can sign in to sandbox Admin:
- Open Administration → User Management.
- Invite the person with the developer role (or org admin, if they should request more access).
- Ask them to create their own sandbox ChainIT ID (Step 4).
- They sign in the same way (Step 5).
They cannot skip the new sandbox account. Sharing your production QR or production invite will not work.
If something looks wrong
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No Request Sandbox menu | Not an org admin, or you are in sandbox Admin | Use production Admin. Ask an org admin to grant access. |
| Request Submitted for a long time | Still waiting on ChainIT review | Wait, or email support@chainit.com with your org name. |
| Request Failed | Sandbox provisioning error | Click Retry Request. If it fails again, contact support. |
| Approval email missing | Wrong org email, or still provisioning | Confirm org email. Use Go to sandbox once status is Environment Ready. |
| Sandbox Admin says login failed / 500 | You scanned with a production ChainIT ID | Hold Login or Sign up to switch to sandbox, create a new ChainIT ID, then scan again. |
| Sandbox Admin loads but you see no org | New user is not on the sandbox org yet | Ask the org admin who requested sandbox to invite you from sandbox User Management. |
What to do next
Once sandbox Admin is open:
- Sign in to the Developer Portal with your sandbox ChainIT ID (QR).
- Register an application — Create application — step-by-step.
- Point API calls at the sandbox host. See Environments.
